Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly

Cornwall is known as the English Riviera due to a milder climate than that of the rest of the country. It is steeped in mystery and intrigue, mainly due to the rocky coast where pirates and smuggler were common place.

These days the quaint fishing villages along the coast welcome visitors with there special charms. Inland villages are much the same today as they have been for hundreds of years, except for the tin mines which have long been closed and the miners were forced to seek work elsewhere. The only signs left of the mines are their chimneys which dot the countryside where they once were.

The Isles of Scilly, which are just off the coast of Cornwall are well known for their flowers. The flowers are cut and shipped all over the country. During the summer many holiday visitors make their way to the islands.
